    Comments about the LEC
This is what people have to say about the LEC...

"The LEC has been instrumental in helping our writing students achieve their goals. Without fail, every semester I get feedback from students saying that one of the most helpful things they learned all semester is how easy and productive it is to work with the tutors. Sharon Barnes

I truly value their professional, competent, and positive interaction with our students."

Adam Schaffner"I feel that going to Supplemental Instruction sessions has helped me very much. I am able to learn the material easier and do better on the quizzes and tests. I wish there was something like this for every subject I am taking." Adam was enrolled in Math 1750.

"Thank you for the opportunity to work with the Learning Enhancement Center this year; I thoroughly enjoyed it. I really think it is an excellent program, and I hope it continues. I found it especially effective because you [director and assistant director] have been able to bring into it such enthusiastic and competent tutors. They are definitely professional: they know their material and they know how to get it across. Being so easily accessible is another big plus. Students needing help can drop in almost any time at all and are able to get one-on-one attention, which is far pedagogically superior to sitting in a large lecture room taking notes. In my own area of foreign languages, it is not just remedial but adds a great deal to what they get in their regular classrooms. In my twenty-five years as a teacher in the department of foreign languages here, I know it would have made a big difference to my students if they had had this service available to them."

"The Engineering Technology courses can be difficult at times, but I know that I can always go to the LEC math lab for help when I need it." Brian Seifert

"I want to thank you for all your help throughout the semester; it made the LEC the best place to work. More than money, there was the satisfaction of people thanking me for what I had taught them."

"Returning to UT as a non-traditional student, I found my academic success linked to the high quality of tutoring offered through the LEC. The tutors and staff are always courteous, knowledgeable and patient. In just a couple of semesters of visiting the LEC, my confidence in my ability to succeed in school has steadily grown." Laura Johnson "One of the First Year students I had been working with stopped by to see me to update me on the progress he had made on his writing assignment. He leaned over, gave me a big hug and said, 'Thank you for everything, Miss Laura.' This job has some really special perks."

"Last week, while I was staffing the Reference Desk at Carlson Library, I was approached by a business undergraduate who just could not figure out how to get the help he needed to complete his project. I tried everything I could think of and then went over and spoke to your office assistant, Heather. She suggested I try one of the business tutors in the lower level of the library. I took the business student to Saumen and explained. Right away he said, 'No problem. I can help with this.' I was so grateful as this business student had really been given the run around. I wanted to take a moment and let you know how professional and informed your student staff is and how when they can help one student, they have earned the highest accolades! The junior student left grateful and stopped to thank me."
